Debra, as usual, you help me see the world through your eyes and open mine.
You're right, it's challenging for those of us who don't have a disability to sometimes deal with a heavy door with our hands full, so to imagine all the thought and strategy that goes into it for someone like yourself is a revelation.
I always find it amusing the lazy people without disabilities who hit that button meant for those who truly need it when they go into my local mall or the local township office. That should be reserved.
Loved your last line. So I'll wish for many automatic doors in your future.
My scariest door is to the office of my community. It is double wide, hung about a quarter of the way into the door from its edge, heavy like crazy and unframed glass. Every time I have a package to retrieve, I wheel up to it, look at it, consider it, and back away slowly. I can wait until a visitor can help me. That door terrifies me.

What a lovely compliment, Melanie. Thank you! And yes, I am over here dreaming of automatic doors :-)
You are very welcome Debra, well-deserved.
Dream on!

I can picture this type of door exactly. SUCH a difficult one to navigate. I can 100% understand why you would wait for help.
